<p style="text-align: center;">If the injured party wants to become an Applicant, one of the first questions that will need to be
answered is,<strong> &ldquo;Do They Already Have a Lawyer?&rdquo;</strong> &nbsp;(In case there is any confusion, the term
&ldquo;Attorney&rdquo; is a synonym of the word &ldquo;Lawyer&rdquo; and can be used interchangeably, however,
&ldquo;lawyer&rdquo; will be used throughout this Course.)&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The answer <strong>does matter</strong> because no advance company will consider an advance if
the Applicant does not have a lawyer.</p>
<h4 style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>This is a problem.</strong></span></h4>
<p style="text-align: center;">If they <span style="text-decoration: underline;">don&rsquo;t</span> have a lawyer, then, as far as
you are concerned, this case<strong> is dead in its tracks</strong> because, as far as the advance company is concerned,<strong>
it is actually not a case at all.</strong> &nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">If they<strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"> don&rsquo;t</span></strong> have a lawyer, then you can
do <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">nothing</span> </strong>until they find a lawyer to represent them (this will be discussed
later in the Course). &nbsp;</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">If they do have a lawyer, then <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>you can proceed with the
next question.</strong></span></li>
