Lesson 18- Lawyers (or Underwriters) Review the Information That You Present
When the completed case information arrives at an advance company and, if it passes an initial cursory review, there is a good chance that it will be eventually reviewed by a lawyer or case underwriter to see if there is any merit to the possibility of an advance payment based on the information in the case file. For lack of a cleverer name, this is called the “Lawyer Review”.
You must realize, of course, that this is just the first hurdle for a case that you have submitted for an advance payment. You also will realize that if the case doesn’t “jump the hurdle”, you won’t get paid.
Don’t worry - the people reviewing the case are on your side. They too are looking for good cases that could be good candidates to receive upfront money. They are not trying to stop any cases. In fact, they are doing just the opposite.
The reason they are on your side is simple: They might not get paid either (not, at least, for very long) unless a certain number of cases are accepted by the advance company, because the advance company only survives if it is making advances on good cases. So, they have to look for the same attributes in a case that a lawyer would look for and, if the case doesn’t meet those standards, they will try (if the case isn’t a total loser) to suggest to you a way to legally meet those standards.
But what are the case elements that the advance company and lawyers are looking for?
